Yes, THAT Cavern Club. Home to the Fab Four's 300 performances. OK, it's two doors down from its original location, but it's still in the same Matthew Street warehouse. Bobby Guitar invited me to join him and the PHAM! All-Stars for a gig in Liverpool at the International Pop Overthrow Festival. Quite possibly (definitely) the worst gig I even played from a financial standpoint. I paid hundreds to get there and got paid zippo, zilch, nada.

The big perq for me was a chance to visit my old college roommate, Chris—a.k.a. the Staxman. Chris was born in the UK, grew up in Ontario, lived with me in Allston (Boston), and married a Canadian girl from Liverpool, which is where they've ended up. Chris and I are charter members of our college fratority, Beta Phi Delta.

Liverpool is sometimes jokingly referred to as the "Capital of Ireland." It's the nearest big city to Dublin, and it's where many Irish settled. I mention this to say that you can get a really authentic "point" of Guinness Stout just about anywhere here. I'm happy to report that the Guinness available back in New York is just as fresh as in Liverpool—this wasn't always the case...

Very impressed with L.A. rocker, Ari Shine, who was joined by the London band Plastic Heroes. The took the stage and just blew the doors off of the place! Nightcap (half-pint) at La Tasca.
