Another Virtual Dads Night Out

Just David and I tonight. So no quorum.

Note: writing this recap a year-and-a-half later, trying to reconstruct the evening from admittedly sketchy notes. Providing narrative detail where I can and leaving random notes as is...

David is drinking a Von Trapp Bohemian-Style Pilsner, a spicy and peppery lager at 5.4% ABV that’s brewed at the von Trapp Lodge in Stowe, Vermont.

I am drinking a Sam Adams Wicked Easy, a light and hazy session IPA (4.7% ABV). It’s a combination of a light malt and white wheat blend, and finished with Cascade, Citra, Mosiac, and Simcoe hops. Nice mellow zing with a touch of fruity notes. Not bad at all.

RANDO NOTES:

We talked about a home Refi. [not sure whose refinance this was. Quite possibly it’s mine. The wife and I refinanced in April, 2021 to bring our 15-year mortgage rate down from 3.75% APR to 2.875% APR. As of this writing in January, 2024, the rates are around 6.5% for a 15-year fixed and about 7.52% for a 30-year fixed. Adjustable rates are even higher.]

[Someone is an] Empty Nester [presumably, David?—it's definitely not me and my wife!]

David reports that his sons, Graham & Zach. are at Club Getaway.

Vaxx Baseball Game [??]

New York State has an Excelsior Wallet program, a digital wallet for storing vaccination records.

No Subway for a year [I’m guessing David is not taking it to avoid catching COVID-19?]

Jaguar XF Wagon [David’s replacement for the Minivan? Or he's looking at one?]

At this point, I’ve switched to a Hoegaarden Bierre Blanche, the classic Belgian Wit, finished with coriander and Curaçao orange peel (4.9 ABV), the perfect summer quaff. David has moved on to a Hermit Thrush Brewery Sour Double IPA (from Brattleboro, VT).
