Pete's was packed! Not so packed that we couldn't get to the bar, but packed enough that we opted to try to get a table outdoors. Then again, when we approached the outdoor hostess to get the table, I think she assumed we were just standing outside. Eventually we got the table and a late-night snack to wash down our beers with.

David, Kev and I each went for the Pete's house beer, which seemed to be a lot like the McSorley's light. Hard to tell without a head-to-head taste test, but it's all probably made by a contract brewer, such as F.X. Matt's in Utica. We had been talking earlier how Heartland and Brooklyn Breweries are the "real deal." Heartland's Farmer John Stout is a GABF gold medal winner and truly an awesome quaff. I'm sure I have waxed poetic in these pages about some of their seasonal darks like the Bavarian Black Lager, or the "Not Tonight, Honey" Porter. But they are all credible contenders (brewed, I believe in Greenpoint, Brooklyn). I know I have waxed poetic about the Blanche de Brooklyn, and probably also the Brooklyn Brown and Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout (brewed, to be sure, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Pete's hausbrau is pleasant, but not even in the same league—It's like the Yankees playing the Portland (Maine) Seadogs!

My penne alá Vodka was tasty and the night was warm and pleasant. Ultimately, our glasses grew empty. With spirits high, our beer cravings sated, we parted ways to end yet another fine DNO. Can't wait for next month!
